1550 Big Bore & S&S 510 Gear Drive Install
Before I even taking a wrench to the bike I aim to have everything ready to install as
soon as I start to tear it apart.
I need the bike for work and can't afford the downtime, so things have to be done as quickly
as possible.
I'm writing this 'as and when' things happen, probably over a period of months as I gather
parts, the plan is for mid-Jan 05.
I bought spare cylinders and heads in e-bay, 500 'break-in' miles on the heads.
The plan was to bore out the cylinders and mill the heads to 82cc for use with
Andrews TW37's.

A friend in HTT, Kingvvk let me have a spare support plate he had at a very reasonable
price.
It's gonna be real handy to have the support plate with cams already installed for a straight
swap over.
You'll see as the story unfolds how he's helped me purchase (ship to the UK) a most of the
parts that I'm going to be using.
I'll take this oportunity to say 'I can't thank you enough', a friend I haven't even met, the
man is a 'Bro'.

Well as you can see below, the plans have changed already LOL.
Thanks to Kingvvk, I now have a new set of S&S 510G's.
I went with these as they were at a good price from Jireh and already had the inner
gears installed, so I won't need to find a press for what I have in mind, you'll see later.
They're designed to work with stock heads/compression so I shouldn't need to mill
the heads like I might have done if I had have used the 37's, so it looks like I'm gonna
have a spare set of heads to play with i.e. either use the spare ones or the ones already
on the bike.

Getting restless, so I made this out of a 1/4" drive socket and a 1/4" long ball headed
allen wrench for the intake manifold bolts, need to keep myself occupied.

I bought these T-Bolt clamps to use as piston ring compressors.
Mark, 'thealien' told me when he did his 1550, the wrinkleband kind he used were a
pain, too tight a squeeze to remove after installation.
>
My friend Kingvv strikes again!!!
One S&S bearing kit, and JIMS inner cam bearing remover and installer.

Again, thanks to Hippo for the 1550 flattop kit, pre-flycut intakes just in case I change cams later on
down the road, saves tearing it apart again.
Also the longer than normal Fueling oil pump alignment pins.
Not forgetting my good friend thealien (Mark) for shipping them over to me
