1550 Big Bore & S&S 510 Gear Drive Install
Before you put it into the oven, position two books in a way that when the cams
are installed the rear cam has enough room to go 'through' to the other side.

Into the oven with the support plate as if cooking a pizza for around 15, 20 minutes.
Don't forget the oven gloves LOL

Take your cams out of the freezer and after aligning the marks on the gears leave them to one side.
Get the support plate out of the oven and quickly position onto the books, the bearings/cams just slide into position.
Remember, looking from the back of the plate, the longer 'rear' cam goes into the right side hole in the support plate.
It's a good idea to have a rubber mallet handy just in case things need a 'nudge'.
Mine didn't, they just dropped right in.
Leave in that position for a good half hour or more to cool, easy as

Oil pressure release valve (bottom hole), we'll come to the later.

As I'm in the UK I thought I'd do a preliminary check of the inner gears for lash.
Too loose or too tight and I'll have to get an over or under size gear sent over from the US, I can get them here but
they're very expensive compared to US prices.
Not a true reading, but it'll give me an idea.
I'll get a more accurate measurement when the support plate is installed with cams/gears in the motor.
Be very carefull not to damage the support plate while doing this, especially the area around where the rear of the
support plate and oil pump meet and be REALLY carefull to shield the gear teeth from damage!!!
Lock one gear solid so you can measure any movement of the other.

The positioning of the dial guage 'point' on the gear teeth.

Pre-load the gauge and spin the dial to 0
